Bringing early college pedagogy to educators across the country.
At the heart of Bard’s Early Colleges is a commitment to excellent teaching practices that bring serious collegiate work to younger students. Bard Early College classes, taught at all levels by experts in their fields with a commitment to adolescent learners, are small, participatory, and writing-intensive, emphasizing collaboration over competition. Most feature active, seminar-style discussion, in which students learn to take responsibility for their own ideas and engage constructively with the ideas of others.
The Center for Early College is committed to providing guidance, resources, and training to not only our own faculty, but to faculty at other institutions who are committed to bringing rigorous and engaged liberal arts-style teaching to their own classrooms.
